CRT TV party
A collection of 20 old tvs stacked up for a New Years Eve party
Tvs were collected from facebook marketplace and some people we met at an e-waste recycling event. Since most were headed for the dump, we acquired them all for free. Here was our full shopping list:
- $74 coaxial cables
- $13 replacement AC power cables (10 tvs had their power cables cut off)
- $9 universal remote (some menu buttons were broken)
- $6 antennae adapter (some older tvs didn't have an RF OUT to plug in a coax cable)
- $20 50-ft extension cord (to put some tvs on another breaker circuit)
- $20 12-outlet power strip
- $30 RF splitters (to divide the signals into every tv cable)
- $20 AV to RF converter (to convert the wii signal to RF)
- $118 RF Modulators (to convert the hdmi signals from the xbox, playstation, laptop, dvd player into RF)
- $40 two fire extinguishers
Total: ~$375
The RF Modulator boxes we got from Aliexpress allowed us to put the signals for each device onto their own tv channel. Wii was set to channel 13, playstation was channel 15, etc. which meant that you could tune each tv to any device you wanted. We had all tvs muted and the laptop (channel 19) was set up to play music videos through a bluetooth soundbar.
It took 2 weeks to set everything up and we sold it all on facebook marketplace a week later.
We kept the one broken tv.
